Removing Ads from Sports Photography
This is just something I was working on a bit today to pass the time. I was looking at some hockey photos and thought to myself (and not for the first time) that the ads that abound in arenas are distracting and generally take away from the image. This is what I did to digitally airbrush them out.
First, the original image (source):

Second, the same photo but with all advertisements removed:

And third, the player’s name added in as a mock advertisement:

I quite like the modified versions, if I do say so myself, and think that they really do help to focus the photo away from the advertisements and onto the true subject, the player.
EDIT: I’ve also posted this on a hockey site to see what some fans think: link.

A View from my Window: 1969
For best results please use headphones or speakers with good separation of left and right channels.
On July 20th 1969 the world had just witnessed mankinds first steps on the Moon; televisions everywhere showed footage sent back home by the astronauts while radios played the biggest hits of the summer such as In The year 2525. This video is intended as a reflection upon the Apollo Missions from a historical perspective, but can also be applied to questions we face in the modern day concerning a revived initiative towards manned lunar missions, 40 years after the original landings.
This video contains original footage along with borrowed audio from the following sources:
In The Year 2525 by Zager & Evans, 1969, RCA Records
John F. Kennedy Speech, May 25, 1961
Audio from NASA video of Apollo 11 and Apollo 17 missions
Audio from ABC News coverage of Apollo 13 Launch
